Target

johnny english, rated U would have a target audience (based upon this and my knowledge of the film itself) of 6-12 year olds, there were obviously some parts meant to ensure that the adults would enjoy it, but it's clear that the primary audience were of 6-12 years old, younger would mean that some of the film is misunderstood, and above 12 doesn't seem to fit.

The character was based off of a series of barclaycard adverts. the trailers present the films almost as if it's just another mr bean film, and so it can be said that the film is drawing in a secondary audience of Mr Bean fans. The original Mr Bean program ran from 1989 to 1995, therefore this secondary audience can be placed with an age range of 20-30 year olds, who would have been of the 6-12 age range for the TV Shows release. In countries such as China and Brazil, the film was actually marketed as a Mr Bean film.

The film clearly spoofs the James Bond series, and so it can also be said that they are trying to appeal to that audience as well, It's clear from the trailer that the film is a spoof of the bond series

The tagline to the film was 'he knows no fear, he knows no danger, he knows nothing', clearly emphasising the spoof/comedy side to the film.
