Q3 DRAFT Notes

What is a distributor:

A distributor is the company (that can be just one person) who takes the completed film and organises the release date, marketing and distribution of the movie. The way they handle distribution is deciding which cinemas show the film and also what TV channels show the film. This also includes the manufacturing and selling of DVDs. Often a distributor only works per country. This means that larger (worldwide) films often have multiple distributors. Distributors find the films that they will distribute from film festivals, such as the sundance festival.
